spring is springing: from the garden And the library

I know it’s been a while since my last post. I took a needed break from social media and doomscrolling to instead focus on simple, quiet pleasures, namely gardening and reading. Here are a few updates on those fronts:
From the Garden
Whew, it’s no secret that grocery prices are too d@## high. Although our little backyard garden isn’t exactly bringing huge savings, it’s been nice to be able to grab a head of lettuce or stalk of green onions when we need. The Not to mention the superior flavor from our garden grown cilantro, basil, lettuce and oregano compared to those from the market.

From the library
March and April were great reading months. My husband and I have a book club of two and thoroughly enjoyed The Dutch House by Ann Patchett which we listened to on audio. The audiobook is narrated by Tom Hanks which made the experience even more enjoyable. His narration made the novel almost cinematic. Highly recommend! I’ve also just finished “The Ministry of Time” by Kailane Bradley, another pick from our little book club of two. I can only describe as sci-fi meets time travel meets romance. I’m no fan of sci-fi and don’t get on well with time-travel storylines but this novel was compelling, although slow going in the beginning. I appreciated the prose, the witty character dialogue and then suspense and action that comes on suddenly towards the end of the novel. I think this novel was long-listed for a book prize. I can see why. The Lonesome Reader @EricKarlAnderson and Tracie Momie Reads @twmomie are a couple of my favorite BookTubers who both do a better job of summarizing this novel.
Here’s what I’m currently reading and so far I’m quite enjoying. I’ll be sure to share my thoughts in an upcoming post.

Finally, here’s a sneak peak of something else I’ve been having fun with lately.
