Transition Style Inspo on A budget
While I continue to adhere to my low-buy year, I do make room for purchases. When it comes to clothing and wardrobe pieces, I will buy items that are replacing another well-loved piece if it no longer fits, or is damaged beyond repair, or fills a needed gap. Thanks to hormonal changes and aging, I had to declutter several items from my closet that were too small, or I no longer felt confident wearing. I was able to sell these on resell sites like Poshmark and Vestiaire, but I was left with gaps in my wardrobe, one being lightweight outerwear. My trench coat and denim jackets were transition wear staples that saw me through many mid-season transitions into the warmer months.
The good news, I struck second-hand gold when I recently purchased a men’s blazer and a genuine suede camel toned jacket. Each were purchased for under $40. And the best part is that I used my earnings from selling clothes from my winter closet clean-out. The camel suede jacket was purchased on ThredUp, a site that I had not purchased from previously, so I was able to take advantage of the discount for first time purchases. The blazer was purchased on Poshmark , a platform I’ve purchased from previously and use to often to sell my own items.
Although it feels like Antarctica has settled in my backyard, I’ve already been strutting around in these jackets with cozy knits underneath—talk about a fashion-forward polar bear! When the sun finally decides to cooperate and the weather warms up, these jackets will still be stylish enough to pair with a tee or denim shirt. So, buckle up for some mid-season style inspiration, including how I managed to make my thrifted treasures look fabulous!
